An internal combustion engine consists of many parts rubbing against each other. The process of friction of parts is called friction. In internal combustion engines, friction is a negative process, as it directly causes wear of parts and a decrease in engine efficiency.


fuel 1To reduce frictional wear, engines use a lubrication system for rubbing parts. For internal combustion engines, the most common engine lubrication system is used – combined. For two-stroke engines – fuel oil, that is, engine oil is mixed with fuel.

During operation, the mixed oil lubricates the engine components and parts. In a combined lubrication system, oil can also perform cooling functions. To cool the engine oil itself, some systems use oil coolers, which are included in the oil intake circuit and installed in the front part of the engine compartment.

For small displacement engines, heat exchangers are used. This is usually the unit on which the oil filter is installed. The heat exchanger has outputs for connecting the cooling circuit. The oil cooling process is combined directly with engine cooling. The coolant, passing through the heat exchanger, takes away some of the heat from the engine oil supplied to the engine, eliminating its overheating and decomposition under the influence of high temperatures.

In a combined lubrication system, oil is supplied under pressure into the oil channels. But in this case, lubrication occurs both under pressure and with the help of an oil bath formed, by splashing.
