Replacing the particulate filter and catalyst
A particulate filter is found in modern diesel engines and serves to clean exhaust gases from soot formed during the combustion of diesel fuel.
The particulate filter traps solid soot particles, thereby reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The filter consists of a metal housing and a matrix made of ceramics. Exhaust gases pass through the walls of the filter, and soot settles in the pores of the ceramic walls.
The catalyst performs the same function in cars with a gasoline engine.
Over time, the filter becomes clogged and needs to be cleaned or replaced. A sensor installed in the filter serves as a clogging signal. Most likely, such an icon will light up on the dashboard of the car. The procedure time also depends on the device of a particular car and is approximately 60-120 minutes.
Replacing the fuel filter
The fuel filter is used to clean liquid fuel from various impurities; it is located in the engine power supply system. For rough cleaning, mesh, plate-slot, and belt-slot fuel filters are used, which trap large mechanical particles. In a fine fuel filter, the filter elements are made of porous materials such as felt, felt, paper.
It is recommended to replace the fuel filter every 30,000 – 50,000 km (depending on the engine type).

Replacing the cabin filter
There are two types of cabin filters: carbon and anti-dust. In addition to dust, a dust filter can capture particles of soot, rubber, heavy volatile compounds, and plant pollen. If the fiber has been chlorinated, the filter can even resist some types of bacteria. Synthetic fiber attracts small particles due to electrostatic voltage. In carbon filters, the filter element consists of layers of molded carbon and fiber. Coal is an excellent absorbent, so the filter retains not only small, but also very small (up to 1 micron) particles. It filters nitrogen oxide, sulfur, substances of benzene, phenolic groups.
If an unpleasant odor appears in your car when you turn on the air conditioner, or the windows begin to fog up, it’s time to change the cabin filter. It is also recommended to replace the cabin filter every 10,000-15,000 km. Replacing the cabin filter takes 15 minutes.
Replacing the air filter
The air filter cleans the air entering the engine from dust, abrasive particles and other harmful impurities. This extends the life of the engine. The air filter helps reduce noise, reduces the risk of water entering the engine and improves air flow uniformity. The most common are panel and ring air filters. There are also complex designs that perform multi-stage filtration and automatically clean the filter element by blowing with compressed air.
It is recommended to change the air filter every 10,000 thousand km if the dust content in the air is average. It is best to inspect the air filter and change it as needed. Replacing the air filter takes 10 to 20 minutes.
Replacing the engine oil filter
The oil filter is designed to remove contaminants from oils. The oil in a running engine becomes contaminated continuously. The intensity of the pollution process depends on the engine design, operating mode, and fuel quality.
Oil contaminated with soot and dust subjects a running engine to enormous loads, since instead of lubricating it acts as sandpaper. This leads to engine wear. The oil filter is designed to prevent this from happening. Therefore, timely replacement of the oil filter increases the engine service life several times.
The oil filter is replaced together with the oil change procedure. It is recommended to change the oil and oil filter every 10,000 – 15,000 km. Changing the oil filter takes approximately 30 minutes. (with oil change)
Replacing the oil filter in an automatic transmission
