The cause of compressor jamming is most often untimely maintenance of the air conditioning system. As a result, compressor oil, having spent its service life long ago, loses its properties.

This is due to the fact that it is located in front of the engine radiator and is exposed to the mechanical and chemical effects of road dirt.

Refrigerant leakage is inevitable due to its ability to diffuse through piping and sealing materials. As a result, the air conditioner loses about 200 g of refrigerant per year, which is 15–20% of the amount charged. Sometimes this is enough to trigger the switch-on protection sensor, as the lubrication conditions of the compressor deteriorate. More intense leaks appear due to depressurization of threaded connections of pipelines, wear of the compressor shaft seal, through corrosion of the condenser and evaporator, and mechanical damage to other parts of the air conditioner.
