Recommendations for car air conditioner repair

The air conditioning hose is not monolithic and consists of three parts:

– the inner shell holds freon;
– reinforcing braid;
– upper rubber part.

Very often the hose pierces the center, and then the freon between the shells flows to the glass and a false impression is created that the leak is there. It is clear that simply squeezing without replacing the hose will lead to nothing in this case.

The only exception is in cases of obvious mechanical damage, when insertion is permitted. Naturally, there can be no question of any gluing or wrapping with electrical tape.

When repairing, you need to follow two recommendations:

1. Under no circumstances should you replace the air conditioning hose with an ordinary hydraulic hose. The latter, of course, is cheaper and can be crimped at almost any plant. But, we repeat, this cannot be done. The fact is that compressor oil is very “poisonous” and special rubber is required for it. Sometimes, for the purpose of additional insulation, the inside of the hose contains a plastic sheath.

Conventional hydraulic hoses cannot cope with conditioning oil and begin to dissolve. As a result, after just a few months, rubber clogs the entire system and can lead to compressor failure. In any case, subsequent flushing and replacement of the receiver cannot be avoided.

2. If the air conditioning hose is attached to iron pipes, then it must be pinched with iron glasses.

If the tubes are aluminum, then the glasses should also be aluminum. Failure to comply with this rule leads to rapid corrosion at the points of contact of foreign metals (galvanic couple).

A sleeve repaired in this way, as a rule, lasts no more than a year or two.
